2021: e-Privacy Regulations
The EU's e-Privacy Regulation, which abolishes and replaces the 2002 e-Privacy Directive, has long been awaited as it was originally scheduled for the May 2018 GDPR enforcement date . The final text was agreed by the EU Council on February 10, 2021, and e-privacy regulations will move to a whole new stage of negotiations. From this stage, new data privacy laws may emerge and come into force throughout the European Union.
